The Devil's Rejects
As my first entry to this blog that is actually related to what is going to be the most common topic, I would like to talk about Rob Zombie's film The Devil's Rejects.
What can you say about this movie that hasn't been said already?. It's just great, but let's begin with the story.
It follows the story of three serial killers, that after being discovered by the police, are now running away. Throughout the way we see how they act, after being explained to us the way they used to live, we get to see how they interact with each other and obviously, with their victims.
The thing I loved the most from this movie, is the fact that the serial killers are shown in a way that is more close to reality than any slasher movie I've ever seen doing so far, these are not your regular Jason, or Michael Myers, these are true, down to earth serial killers that you see on the news, I found that to be the most effective way to present, at least to reach your most true fears.
The characters are great, you get to know each one more and more as the movie keeps going, and maybe in not so much in a personal level, but you familiarise with the way they act, and at some point with the way they feel, just enough for you to care, but still loose enough for you to have your own judgement about each one of them, and with the twists and stories from the movie, each person can have a completely different approach to each character.
This movie, being the sequel to House of 1000 corpses (also by Rob Zombie), has a completely different atmosphere, which I believe is for the best, the first movie has some kind of fantasy feeling to it, and in the long run it just doesn't get to you the same way, if you must see just one movie from this series, watch The Devil's Rejects, just be awared that is sick and it is a true horror movie.
